DIY: Bedroom Staging & Styling Secrets Revealed
Best bedroom layouts when selling your property
The bed is the biggest furniture item in the bedroom and it is, therefore, essential to position the bed the right way in order to create balance and flow around the room. The shape of the bedroom and the focal point of the bedroom will determine the placement of the bed.
Please refer to the course: Focal Point, The Fundamental Element in Interior Design (https://homeimprovementtraining.com/courses/focal-point-the-fundamental-element-in-interior-design/) where we discussed in depth the different focal points in the bedroom and how to arrange your bedroom accordingly.
Whether you are a property stylist or a homeowner that is about to place their property on the market, the following principles will apply to both parties. Ideally, you will place the top end of the bed against the wall you face when you enter the room. Not all homes have been designed with this in mind, so you will sometimes find that the electricity socket outlets are in the wrong spots. As a rule of thumb, do not let the electricity socket outlets determine the placement of your bed and bedside tables, but rather consider flow and access to your wardrobes and windows. You can always use extension leads in order to switch on your bedside table lamps as long as you get the layout right.
Let us imagine for a moment that you are a property buyer. You walk past the master bedroom. All you see as you walk past is the bottom end of the bed and a blank wall. You might have popped your head into the room, but you keep walking as there is not much that captures your attention.
Now, let us imagine you are walking past a bedroom and your eye catches a glimpse of a lovely headboard or artwork. This will tempt you to actually walk into the room to see more. Remember, buyers will buy your house based on what they perceive your home. Creating a bedroom that is warm and inviting is crucial.
The above illustration emphasizes that the bed plays a big part in the overall look and feel of the bedroom.
