Masterclass: Bedroom Staging & Styling Secrets Revealed
Cost effective ways to make a small bedroom feel bigger
Like a magician, property stylists have some tricks up their sleeves to make a small bedroom appear bigger, without changing the physical size of the bedroom. This is one of the most popular questions we get. Without changing the structure of a room, there are a few key things you can implement immediately that will make an immediate impact on the perceived size of your bedroom.
These tips are invaluable if you are redecorating your bedroom or if you are thinking of selling your home. Potential buyers love the feeling of a “big” open room, and by adding a few things, you can create a room that they will love and perceive as spacious.
Contrary to popular belief, having a single bed in a bedroom does not necessarily make the room feel bigger. In fact, in most cases, it creates the opposite effect. If you are thinking of selling your property, we strongly recommend using a double bed instead of a single bed (only if the bed will fit). When buyers look at your property, they will think that the room is so small that you can only fit a single bed in. The moment a buyer has doubts about a house (e.g, not sure if their guest room double bed will fit), they will most likely move onto the next house where the rooms are displayed with double beds.
In the videos below, we will discuss a couple of key elements that can drastically change the feel and perceived size of a room.
Key elements you can implement straight away:
- Paint (neutral colours, if the walls are painted with bright or bold colours)
- The right type of furniture for the room.
Ceiling Height:
Creating the illusion of a high ceiling will instantly make a small bedroom appear bigger. In the video below, we will look at some great ways to achieve this instantly and without having to physically change the height of the ceiling.
Colours and lighting:
These 2 elements, colour and lighting, play a big part in the perceived size of your bedroom. Bland does not have to be boring. In the video below we share some key items that you can change or use in order to make your small bedroom cosy, but feel bigger at the same time.
Some of the things we will discuss in the document below can be implemented immediately, whereas others may take some time and effort, but in the end, it will be worth it.
We will look at implementing different strategies such as:
- Painting
- Space-saving furniture options to consider
- Increase the perceived height of the ceiling
- Light
- General quick changes
